Is Microsoft beating Apple at its own game?

Microsoft’s venture into good UI design largely came out of the ZuneHD redesign venture.
What we got was a vibrant, fresh looking MP3 player, which sadly didn’t make a big mark in terms of market capitalization, but did manage to get wide recognition from various critics.

Soon Bing, XBox, Kinect and most recently the Windows Phone are what seem to be steps in the right direction.
